This world requires an Xbox account

Some worlds and servers only let in players signed in to Minecraft with a Microsoft account (the same account Xbox uses). It is free and takes a few minutes. Krak Multiplayer never sees your Microsoft password.

1. Create a free Microsoft account

  1. Open account.microsoft.com in a browser and choose Create a Microsoft account. If you already use Outlook, Hotmail, Skype or an Xbox console, you already have one.
  2. Enter an email address you can open, or make a new free Outlook address, and choose a password.
  3. Enter your country and date of birth, then type the code Microsoft sends to your email.
  4. When you are offered an Xbox profile, keep the suggested gamertag or pick your own. You can change it later.

2. Sign in inside Minecraft

  1. Open Minecraft and wait for the main menu.
  2. Tap Settings, then Account (Profile in some versions).
  3. Tap Sign in with a Microsoft account. Minecraft shows a link and a code, or opens a browser.
  4. Sign in with the account from step 1 and allow access. Back in Minecraft, your gamertag shows at the top of the menu.
  5. Return to Krak Multiplayer and join the world again.

Under 18

Microsoft makes accounts of players under 18 child accounts in a family group. A parent or guardian approves the account and decides whether you may play online and join other people's worlds.

Ask a parent to open family.microsoft.com, find your account under Family and allow Xbox online play and joining multiplayer games. Until then Minecraft may say that multiplayer is blocked by your account settings.

Your gamertag

In Minecraft other players see your gamertag, not your Krak nickname. Add the same gamertag to your Krak profile so friends recognise you. You can change the gamertag at account.xbox.com (the first change is free).

Troubleshooting

Minecraft has no Sign in button

Update Minecraft from your app store, restart it and look again under Settings, Account. Some older versions show the button on the main menu.

Signing in fails or starts over

Check the date and time of your device, try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, and sign in once at account.microsoft.com in a browser to accept any new terms.

Multiplayer is blocked by my account settings

Your account is a child account or has privacy limits. At account.xbox.com, under Privacy and online safety, allow joining multiplayer games (for a child account a parent does this).

I signed in but still cannot join

Close Minecraft completely, open it again, check that your gamertag shows in the menu, then join through Krak Multiplayer again. If the world has a whitelist, ask the host to add your gamertag.

Do I have to pay or have Xbox Game Pass?

No. A free Microsoft account is enough to sign in. Some consoles need a subscription for online play; phones and PCs do not.
